The North Malabar Gramin Agriculture and Milk Producers Society is an agriculture and milk-producing society based in Kasaragod, Kerala. Its work is being developed around three connected areas:
Farming rarely depends on one thing.
A farmer needs seeds, fertilisers, crop inputs and tools. A dairy
farmer needs feed, nutrition and regular animal-care
requirements. Agricultural land needs people, inputs and
proper coordination before it can produce again. A working farm needs the right animals, feeding systems and management.
North Malabar Gramin Agriculture and Milk Producers Society
has been developed around these everyday agricultural realities.
The farm in Kasaragod is planned around:
Milk production forms an important part of the farm.
Cow, buffalo and goat milk form the main dairy categories, while donkey and camel milk add specialised milk sections.
The farm animals and birds are maintained for their respective dairy, poultry and agricultural purposes.
They are not offered for sale.
The North Malabar Gramin Agriculture and Milk Producers Society intends to make selected agricultural requirements easier for farmers to access.
These include:
Organic fertilisers
Seeds
Crop-protection products
Agricultural equipment
Farm tools
Other relevant agricultural inputs
The idea is simple.
Make important agricultural requirements more directly accessible wherever possible.
Dairy-farmer support is another practical area of work.
The North Malabar Gramin Agriculture and Milk Producers Society intends to help dairy farmers access selected cattle-feed products, supplements, animal-nutrition products and other relevant dairy-farm requirements according to availability.
Suitable agricultural land can remain unused because of labour shortages, lack of coordination, limited access to inputs or changing circumstances.
The North Malabar Gramin Agriculture and Milk Producers Society plans to create a point of contact for farmers and landowners who want to discuss bringing suitable agricultural land back into cultivation.
The actual arrangement will depend on the land, and the terms agreed between the parties.
To develop the mixed dairy farm in Kasaragod, improve access to essential agricultural and dairy-farming requirements and support productive use of suitable agricultural land.
Agriculture is physical work. The support around it should stay close to what farmers actually need.
Where possible, reduce unnecessary intermediary dependence between suppliers and farmers.
Suitable agricultural land left unused deserves a serious conversation about cultivation.
A target remains a target until it becomes operational.
Scale means more when people can see what is actually happening.
An agriculture and milk-producing society based in Kasaragod, Kerala, working across mixed dairy farming, farmer services, dairy support and cultivation.
